Apps by Jeffrey Ellin
Effective Date: April 12, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Family Beacon app (hereby referred to as “Application”) for mobile devices and desktop that was created by Jeffrey Ellin (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”) as a free service. This service is intended for use “AS IS”.
Family Beacon is designed with privacy as a core principle. The Service Provider does not operate any servers and does not collect, store, or have access to your personal data. All data is stored and synced exclusively through your personal Apple iCloud account.
The Application stores and transmits only the information you explicitly provide:
The Application does not access your location, contacts, camera roll, or any other device data beyond photos you explicitly select to attach to a message.
All application data — including messages, photos, and your family group configuration — is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit framework. This data is encrypted and managed by Apple according to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
The Service Provider has no access to your iCloud data at any time.
The Application uses push notifications to alert the recipient when a new message arrives. Notification delivery is handled by Apple’s Push Notification service (APNs). The Service Provider does not store or process notification content.
The Service Provider does not share your data with any third parties. The Application does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
You can stop all use of the Application by uninstalling it using the standard uninstall process on your device or via the App Store.
Because the Service Provider does not store any of your data, data retention is governed entirely by your iCloud account. You can delete individual messages from the Inbox at any time within the Application. On Mac, the Owner can permanently delete all messages and disconnect all senders using Wipe All Data in Settings. Deleting the Application removes local data from your device; iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud account settings.
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Application is intended for family use and parental supervision is encouraged for younger users.
If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services, please contact the Service Provider via the Support Page.
All data is protected by Apple’s iCloud security infrastructure, including encryption in transit and at rest. The Service Provider does not have access to your iCloud data.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
If you have any questions regarding privacy while using the Application, please visit our Support Page.
